Inhalt: This course is offered for first-year students of the program PELP who did not study economics before. Participants should learn to think like an economist and to apply the basic tools of economic analysis to real world problems that are relevant for public economics. The techniques learned in this course are prerequisites for a thorough understanding of economic topics dealt with in other more advanced modules of the program. The core topics covered include - consumer theory and theory of demand, - production theory and theory of supply, - theory of perfect and imperfect markets, - the role of the government in a market economy.
