Inhalt: What is the international regulation for the different spaces and global commons? During the course, participants will learn about the international legal and policy framework governing the protection of spaces as a regulatory approach, from land, water, and polar regions, to outer space (space law). This regulatory approach will be analysed in the light of different Multilateral Environmental Agreements such as the Antarctic Treaty, the Convention on Biological Diversity and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, among others. What are the opportunities and challenges of spatial regulation in international law? The seminar will also discuss current negotiations involving the different spaces covered (e.g., BBNJ).
