Inhalt: This course has two main blocs, the first methodological, the second conceptual/theoretical. The first part deals with the main tenets of social science methodology, including hypothesis-formation, conceptualization, operationalization, the comparative method and general research design. The second half profiles three key approaches to comparative politics that have emerged over the last 50 years: rational choice, institutionalism and culture.
