Leuphana becomes the centre of business administration for three days
2024-02-29 More than 500 business administration university lecturers discuss a new business administration as a driving force for social transformation.
Lüneburg. The Association of University Lecturers in Business Administration (VHB) is holding its 84th annual conference at Leuphana University Lüneburg from 6 to 8 March. Against the backdrop of the question of what contribution business administration can make to the transformation of companies, the core topics of the event are entrepreneurship, digitalisation and sustainability. With around 530 registered speakers and guests, 130 different events and 250 contributions, the conference promises to be a place for fruitful dialogue on pressing issues of economic, social and ecological transformation.
In her opening lecture on 6 March, Professor Ann-Kristin Achleitner from the Technical University of Munich will address the current challenges facing business administration and the question of what this means for studies. She sees her subject as a melting pot of different disciplines, ideally suited to integrating all relevant perspectives for the increasingly complex decision-making situations in companies - and thus acting as a backbone for future-orientated action.
Other current topics that the business administration lecturers will address during the conference include the challenges of the energy transition, the debate on supply chains and sustainability reporting as well as research findings on the circular economy and ethical consumption and the use of artificial intelligence in companies and university teaching.
Leuphana is co-organising the conference this year. Its Faculty of Management and Technology combines four core disciplines of sustainable management under one roof: business administration, business psychology, business informatics and engineering - a unique constellation in the German-speaking world. For University President Sascha Spoun, Leuphana is therefore exactly the right place to discuss a new approach to business administration: "In future, students will need an integrative model that enables the transformation of companies and organisations."
