Award: NUMIFORM's Zienkiewicz Prize for Benjamin Klusemann
2023-06-29 Lüneburg/Krakow. Prof. Dr. Benjamin Klusemann from Leuphana University Lüneburg has been awarded the Professor O.C.Zienkiewicz Prize of NUMIFORM 2023 for his scientific achievements in the field of numerical simulation of technical production processes. The expert in mechanics of materials, who is also a department head at the Helmholtz Centre Hereon, received the award at the 14th International Conference on Numerical Methods in Industrial Forming Processes (NUMIFORM) at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland. The award is associated with a keynote lecture in which Prof. Klusemann presented his current research work on solid-phase materials processing, in particular from his current ERC project MA.D.AM, to an international audience of experts.
The Professor O.C. Zienkiewicz Award was established in 2016 in recognition of the life's work of its namesake. Since then, the award has been presented every three years by the Steering Committee of the NUMIFORM Conference in recognition of achievements in the advancement of numerical methods for industrial manufacturing/forming processes to distinguished young international scientists.
Established in 1982 by Prof. O.C. Zienkiewicz, one of the pioneers in the development of the finite element method, the NUMIFORM conference series is held every three years. The aim of the international conference is to provide a forum where recent advances and future directions in the numerical simulation of manufacturing/forming processes are discussed by engineers and scientists from industry and academia worldwide.
