New funding opportunity for data analytics studies at Leuphana

2023-08-02 Lüneburg. A certificate programme at the Professional School of Leuphana University Lüneburg deals with so-called machine learning. The extra-occupational two-semester continuing education programme qualifies students to evaluate large and complex data sets in a targeted manner with the help of current methods of statistical data analysis. The European Social Fund and the state of Lower Saxony will finance up to 70 per cent of the tuition fees for prospective students from eleven districts in north-eastern Lower Saxony from October.

The funding aims to improve the ability to process and evaluate large amounts of data in companies from Lower Saxony through the appropriate qualification of employees. To this end, the "Machine Learning" certificate imparts academically sound knowledge that can be applied in a practical way in regional companies. This makes the digital transformation easier for companies and keeps the region in touch with current developments.

The "Machine Learning" certificate is aimed at employees of regional companies who would like to use large amounts of data in one or more departments and already have some basic knowledge in this area (such as knowledge of statistics or a programming language) as well as a bachelor's or diploma degree. Since attendance on campus is only scheduled once a month and all courses are on weekends or in the evenings, further education is possible alongside full-time employment and family obligations.

The certificate will be offered for the first time in the winter semester 2023/24. The application deadline is 31 August. Successful graduates can have the completed study modules credited towards a Master's degree.
