New Master's programmes on democracy and economics at the Faculty of Political Science
Leuphana expands its range of degree programmes:
2024-03-26 Lüneburg. Leuphana University Lüneburg is expanding its range of courses in the field of political science with two new study programmes on highly topical subjects. The new degree programme Public Affairs and Democracy deals with democracy and the influence on political decision-making processes. The second new programme, Public Affairs and Economics, focuses on empirically based economic analysis of social problems. Both programmes start in October this year. Applications are possible from the beginning of April.
Democracy research is at the centre of the new Master's degree programme in Public Affairs and Democracy. On the one hand, students look at the role of institutions and parties for democratic systems; on the other, they analyse how ideas, values and the respective political culture shape democracies. International relations are also taken into consideration. The course qualifies students for careers in academia, politics and administration as well as in international and non-governmental organisations.
The Master's in Public Affairs and Economics offers students a research-oriented programme in economics. Data-driven economic analyses are essential in order to be able to react appropriately to current challenges such as climate change, transformation or globalisation of the economy and society. Students acquire the corresponding methodological skills. Their future fields of work lie in science, public institutions, political consulting or business. Three profile areas allow for individual specialisation: Finance Studies, Political Studies or Sustainability Studies.
The degree programmes are offered in English and, as part of the doctoral track, enable students to pursue a doctorate during their Master's degree or, alternatively, directly afterwards.
