The Programme

Objectives

The concept of this double degree is based on the realisation that entrepreneurial success does not depend solely on the respective professional knowledge, but also on broadening the international horizon in which this knowledge is acquired and applied. This is made possible by the international cooperation with the University of Glasgow as a global top 100 university.

The main goal of the international cooperation is the transcultural development of responsible management thinking and the inspiration of the next generation of leaders. By seamlessly earning a degree from both Leuphana University Lüneburg and the University of Glasgow, you will not only acquire study-related expertise, but also learn how to work in different cultural and institutional contexts. By studying at both universities, you can also build your global professional network -- an opportunity that a mono degree programme at just one university can hardly provide.

Structure

The international cooperation between the University of Glasgow and Leuphana University Lüneburg takes place in Lüneburg, Germany, and Glasgow, United Kingdom. You spend the first year of your studies in Lüneburg and the second year in Glasgow.

If you decide to take the double degree, you must already prepare your application during the first semester at Leuphana.

The first and second semesters of the Masters programme must be successfully completed in Lüneburg. In Glasgow, you continue your studies with a study programme that matches your Masters degree. The modules from Glasgow, if equivalent, will be recognized for the 3rd and 4th semester in Lüneburg. To accelerate and simplify the recognition procedure, you will conclude a learning agreement in advance (during your second Leuphana Semester) with your Leuphana programme director.

You can choose between the following programmes: International Strategic Marketing, Financial TechnologyInternational Business, Data Analytics for Economics & Finance, International Human Resource Management and Development as well as Economic Development. The programme taken in Glasgow must also be completed in order to obtain the double degree.

Master Thesis/Masters Forum

Towards the end of the second year of study in Glasgow, you will start writing your final thesis, which will be jointly supervised by both universities.

As far as the topics are equivalent, Leuphana University Lüneburg recognises the credits earned in Glasgow. To accelerate and simplify the recognition procedure, you will conclude a learning agreement in advance (during your second Leuphana Semester) with your Leuphana programme director.

After successful completion of both years of study, you will be awarded the two degrees Master of Science (M.Sc.) of the respective chosen programme of Leuphana University Lüneburg and the University of Glasgow. With the double degree, you are very well prepared for an international career in both science and business.

In the event that you do not achieve the Master of Science degree from the University of Glasgow, it is possible to have the credits earned in Glasgow recognised and to continue the second year at Leuphana. In this case, you will have to write the Master thesis in Lüneburg and receive the Master of Science degree from Leuphana University.
