Language and Orientation Program

The 4-week Language and Orientation Program (LOP) has been designed to help new international students settle in Lüneburg, become acquainted with cultural differences and characteristics, get to know a lot of new people from all over the world and to prepare to study at Leuphana. We strongly recommend that new international students acquire at least some German skills before the start of their studies, since German is not only the main language of instruction at Leuphana, but the language of everyday life.

The Language and Orientation Program is subject to a fee of 75 Euros for undergraduate and graduate students (Ph.D. students who have an employment contract with the university members pay a fee of 150 €). The program includes:

  • an intensive German course (beginner level A1 to advanced level B2)
  • registration with Leuphana University and with the local authorities
  • orientation on campus and introduction to the University's facilities
  • support in setting up the individual course schedule (learning agreement)
  • information on the course offer and support with course registration
  • getting to know the city and the surrounding area (e.g. city tour)
