Leuphana Salon at the MIZ: Experiencing innovative learning spaces

2024-02-06

On 24 January, the Leuphana Salon "Experience innovative learning spaces" took place in the Experience Lab of the MIZ and offered teachers and students a space for an informal exchange on current developments in the design of innovative learning spaces. The 3 keynote speeches covered a range of topics from virtual learning spaces realised in VR technology to hybrid teaching and learning settings and innovative learning space designs on site:

1. in "Application-related VR technology" by Dr Hannes Petrowsky (DigiTaL TP 1), concrete examples of the use of VR technology at Leuphana were presented, impulses on the potential of VR for immersive learning experiences and practical applications were discussed and insights into future developments in this area were given.

2. the presentation "Hybrid teaching" by Johann Mai (DigiTaL TP 11) presented best practices for the technical implementation of hybrid teaching-learning settings for different formats and group sizes, as well as experiences with interaction and didactics in synchronous hybrid events.

3. in "Further development of learning spaces in the MIZ and on campus", Erik Senst (MIZ) spoke about the further development of learning spaces on site and the expansion of the range of accompanying digital communication and collaboration tools and invited participants to discuss the further design of learning spaces.

In a subsequent practical phase, the participants of the salon had the opportunity to interactively exchange and discuss with the lecturers and to learn from their own experiences.

The Leuphana Salon is an open exchange format initiated by the Teaching Service without strict guidelines. Supported by the Teaching Service team, all stakeholders can take advantage of this campus-wide opportunity for exchange and presentation. The Leuphana Salon "Experience innovative learning spaces" was organised and held jointly by the MIZ and the DigiTaL project.
