Doctoral degree program at Leuphana University
You are planning to pursue a doctoral degree? We look forward to welcoming you as a doctoral candidate at Leuphana Graduate School. The Graduate School at Leuphana combines master’s and doctoral studies under one roof. All our doctoral students benefit from a structured doctoral program, that accompanies the individual work on the dissertation.
Choice of subject and establishing contact
You will choose the topic for your dissertation by yourself. It must be related to the respective fields of study of the Leuphana University as well as to the disciplines represented in the departments. In a first step you have to find an expert advisor (professor) for your project prior to your application and make contact with him or her on your own. For further information and advice on the procedures and on the requirements for a doctorate degree, see Apply.
Timeframe of doctoral studies
The timeframe for doctoral studies is set for three years; however the part-time doctoral program is designed for six years. During this time, you are enrolled as a doctoral candidate in the semi-structured doctoral program of the Leuphana University of Lüneburg and complete accompanying compulsory courses. Find out about the modules of the semi-structured doctoral program, the doctoral collegia and the major bodies in the doctoral procedures on the following pages.
Guidelines and Regulations
Please familiarize yourself thoroughly with the doctoral regulations of your faculty. They constitute the statutory basis for the application for and examination of your doctoral studies.
