Sustainable Mobility
Leuphana's mobility concept follows the "push and pull strategy". On the one hand, there are restrictions on non-sustainable forms of mobility, including the designation of the campus as a traffic-calmed area, and on the other hand, offers for sustainable mobility, including the promotion of cycling, electric mobility and local public transport (ÖPNV). All measures are accompanied by teaching and research projects.
Leuphana's central campus has been a traffic-calmed area according to StVO sign 325 for several years. This means: all road users have equal rights, cars are only allowed to drive at walking speed and parking is only permitted in the designated areas.
In addition, the university has implemented a seepage and sector system on its campus: The roads between the west and east parts of the campus are closed with bollards. Through traffic is thus no longer possible. Car access is now only possible via the outer areas of the campus, so that parking spaces are only used in the outer parking areas of the campus if possible.
"Beautiful cycle routes" map to the university | The newly developed map contains routes to Leuphana University Lüneburg from the surrounding communities and from the city area. These are alternatives to the busy main routes and can be downloaded directly from the internet or onto a smartphone. Information on the length and condition of each route as well as photos are available. The aim of this map is to show university members who live in villages up to 15 km away an alternative to the car. |
| StadtRAD | Since autumn 2013, bikes can be rented at the Leuphana locations, the train station and in the city. This was successfully implemented through cooperation between the city of Lüneburg, the General Student Committee (AStA), the Student Parliament (StuPa) and the Leuphana Presidential Board as well as Deutsche Bahn. |
| Cargo bike | Students and employees can borrow the cargo bike for conferences, meetings and also privately. It can be borrowed during the opening hours of the MIZ equipment lending desk in C7.115. |
| Company bikes | In summer 2010, company bicycles were made available at all locations. This allows employees to commute quickly, comfortably and healthily between the locations. The bikes can be borrowed during the opening hours of the MIZ equipment lending desk in C7.115. |
| KonRad workshop | KonRad is the AStA's bicycle self-help workshop and offers the opportunity to repair and overhaul bicycles in a well-equipped workshop, alone or with expert help. In addition, spare parts for bicycles can be purchased and bicycles and trailers can be rented. The workshop is located in car park P3 behind the refectory. |

| Semesterticket | By paying their semester fee, students can use the regional trains from Uelzen, Hamburg and Lübeck to Lüneburg and the buses throughout the Lüneburg district. They can also store their bikes free of charge in the bike parking garage at the station. |
