Applications for admission to an advanced semester

Transfer of previously earned credits

Once we have received your application, we will check the validity of your previously passed examinations. Based on this assessment, you will be placed in the higher semester for which you have applied. Therefore, please submit the application for placement in an advanced semester together with your application for admission.

You must sign the recognition of equivalence, as well as your application for admission and send the original to Students Services in due time together with the other supporting documents. In this case, the date that Leuphana receives the letter (not the postmark) counts as the cut-off period.

No preliminary examination possible

Please understand that you will only receive binding information about the recognition of equivalence together with your admission certificate. You will, therefore, not receive any information in advance, neither by telephone nor e-mail, on the recognition of equivalence of your previously acquired credits or achievements.

Admission to an advanced semester

The advanced semester you can be admitted to depends on your previous examination results. As a general rule, at least 20 credit points in the form of modules eligible for recognition must be available for a semester.

Please note that only modules, which are included in your Leuphana target study programme will be recognised. You will find these in the subject-specific schedule. You can find the subject-specific schedule on the page of the relevant major or minor.

Important notice
Since the number of students who can be admitted to an advanced semester depends on the number of available study places, it is advisable to apply several times, that is to say: for the 2nd, 4th and 6th semesters (for summer semesters) or the 3rd and 5th semesters (for winter semesters).

Previously acquired credits or accomplishments

Only after you have received admission to an advanced semester can you apply for the recognition of previously acquired credits or accomplishments.
