Before the selection day

When can I register for a selection day?

Registration for the selection days is activated successively, i.e. you can only register for the following selection day. Exceptions are the three dates in July.

I have registered, but now I can't/won't take part. How do I cancel my registration?

Please send a short informal e-mail (without giving reasons) to auswahl.college@leuphana.de stating that you are unable to attend the appointment.

Can I choose when I take part or are there differences between the days?

You can choose freely between the dates published on our website.

Can I fail the test?

No, you can only improve and generate additional points by participating.

Can I prepare for the study skills test?

It is neither necessary nor possible to prepare for the study skills test in any particular way.
To give you an impression of the groups of tasks, we have put together sample German tasks (for German-language study programmes) and sample English tasks (for English-language study programmes).

For which study programmes does the study skills test take place?

The study skills test is carried out for all study programmes. Please note that the test can only be credited if you take it in the language of the study programme for which you are applying.

Which study programmes conduct selection interviews?

Selection interviews are currently being held for the Global Environmental Sustainability Studies, Studium Individuale and Environmental Sciences degree programmes.

Why can I only take part in the selection interview after the application deadline?

The selection interview is individually tailored to the respective study programme, therefore an application must be submitted in order to participate in the interview.

How can I prepare for the selection interview?

The selection interviews consist of a 20-minute individual interview followed by a short presentation (5 minutes + 5 minutes for follow-up questions). The interview is conducted in the language of the chosen study programme. Topics of the individual interview include your motivation for the study programme and Leuphana University.
A five-minute presentation on a topic of your choice must be prepared for the selection interview. It should be on a current and socially relevant topic. Please bring an outline of your presentation in duplicate to the selection interviews. Please refrain from preparing PowerPoint presentations etc. These cannot be used.

I have a health impairment. How can I take part in the study skills test or the selection interview?

It is important to us that you do not suffer any disadvantages due to a health impairment (in the sense of a chronic or mental illness or a disability). In this case, please contact us (auswahl.college@leuphana.de) so that we can clarify the details.

How can I apply if I have acquired a higher education entrance qualification in a non-EU/EEA country?

5% of study places are available for applicants who have obtained a higher education entrance qualification in a non-EU/EEA country. All relevant information on the application process can be found under "International applicants".

Can I do the test and the interview on two different days?

Yes, that is possible.

On the selection day

What do I need to bring with me for the selection days?

Regardless of the study programme you have chosen, you will need the following for the selection days:

- Photo ID (identity card, passport, driving licence). Be sure to keep your ID with you; you will have to show it repeatedly.
- At least one dark coloured pen (black or blue)

The following also applies to applicants who wish to take part in an interview (Global Environmental Sustainability Studies, Studium Individuale and Environmental Sciences programmes): Please bring the written outline of your presentation in duplicate.

Where do the selection days take place?

The selection days take place on the campus of Leuphana University Lüneburg. The address is: Universitätsallee 1, 21335 Lüneburg

Information on how to find us can be found here.

Where and how do I find the registration and test rooms?

Registration will take place in the central building or in the Leuphana lecture theatre. You will find a signposting system on campus which will guide you to the registration desk. After your online registration and in good time before your selection day, you will receive an e-mail with all the relevant information for your selection day.

I am travelling by train, how do I get to the campus?

From Lüneburg railway station, the university bus line 5001 takes 13 minutes directly to the Universitätsallee stop at the main entrance to the campus.

There are also regular bus routes 5011 (direction Rettmer/Häcklingen) and 5012 (direction Bockelsberg) to the central campus, bus stop Blücherstraße (1 min walk from the campus) - and route 5600 to the bus stop Zentralgebäude.

You can display your route at the HVV.

I am travelling by car. Where can I park during the selection days?

You can find an overview of parking facilities on the map of the Leuphana campus.

I have a long journey. Can my travelling/accommodation costs be covered?

Under certain conditions, Leuphana University can cover a proportion of your travelling expenses. Please refer to the relevant application form to find out what proof you need to provide. Unfortunately, Leuphana University of Lüneburg cannot cover accommodation costs.

I have a long journey, can I stay overnight on campus?

For participants with a long journey, we will provide free overnight accommodation on campus on 19, 20 and 22 July. Please bring your own sleeping bag and a sleeping mat. Registration is required. Overnight accommodation is limited and unfortunately not available for accompanying persons. We will publish all further information and the link for registration in good time on the Selection Days page.

I have not registered for the selection days, can I still take part?

Participation can only be guaranteed if you have registered for the selection days beforehand.
The registration periods for the selection days can always be found on the homepage in good time before the dates.

I cannot attend on site, what should I do?

If you are unable to take the aptitude test and/or the interview in person, you have the option of taking it online.
You can take the ITB-ASET online as a substitute for the Leuphana study aptitude test which takes place in person. Information on this can be found on the Selection Day page. Please note that this will incur additional costs.
You can also complete the selection interview online. To do this, register for one of the online appointments using the registration form.

After the selection day

How do I find out what score I have achieved?

Once you have taken part, you will shortly receive your score by post as soon as possible.

How will the points be credited to me?

If you have not yet submitted an online application, you must do so within the application period so that the points can be credited to you. If you have submitted a valid application, your points will automatically be offset against the points from your HZB and extracurricular activities if your application falls within the main quota and you have taken the test in the language of the relevant study programme.

I have already written the test on campus in advance, can I do the interview online?

Yes, this is possible. When registering for the interview, you can indicate that you would like to conduct it online.

I am not satisfied with my result, can I take part a second time?

No, you can only take the test once per application phase.

I already took part in the study skills test (the selection interview) last year. Can I have my results credited again?

If you have already taken part in the selection procedure in the previous year, your study skills test and selection interview results can be recognised under certain conditions. It is not possible to credit results that are older than one year. It is important that you have applied/are applying for the same degree programme. If this is not the case, you must or can take part in the selection days again this year.

When will I find out whether I have been granted admission?

You can check the status of your application at any time on myCampus. You will be informed of any changes to your status by e-mail.

Please understand that due to the high demand, you will not be able to receive information on the status of your application by telephone or e-mail.
