Culture and the Making of Worlds
07. Oktober 2010 3rd edition of the ESA Research Network Sociology of Culture mid-term Conference, Università Bocconi, Milan 7th-9th October 2010
Research session 15, "The cultures of unsustainability", proposed by the IKKK Research Unit Sociology of the Arts, will be split into the following two halves:
First half, chaired by Prof. Dr. Volker Kirchberg, with the following papers:
1. Daily life residues and the risk of conceptual unsustainabilities (Alexandre Pólvora)
2. Sustainable cultural development (Jasmina Kuka)
3. Creating virtual imaginaries of sustainability - between on- and off-lone community soliciting and action generation (Oleg Koefoed)
4. From the Unsustainable Creative Class to the Sustainable Creative City: An emerging shift in cultural policies? (Sacha Kagan)
Second half, chaired by Sacha Kagan, with the following papers:
1. The encounter of cultures in an integral development project: a story of stories of La Chureca garbage slum (María José Zapata Campos)
2. Hidden waters. The roles of culture in high-tech Jordan Valley (Jordan) (Mauro Van Aken)
3. Economy and the Art of Complexity (David Haley)
4. Textual and personal analysis of discourses and communication around the conference Culture|Futures – the transition to an Ecological Age at the time of the UN Climate Summit (Olaf Gerlach-Hansen)
