Speaking with Women Artists: Visualities, Actions and Affections (FSL) (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Luisa Ribeiro Telles

wöchentlich | Mittwoch | 12:15 - 13:45 | 14.10.2020 - 29.01.2021 | Online-Lehre | Projector and sound boxes, chairs to a maximum of 40 people.

Inhalt: How to reread art history in a less oppressive and discriminatory way in terms of gender? So that narratives become more plural, all stories need to be told: this seminar is therefore a space for reading the writings of women artists, and debating their works. The meetings are open to presenting proposals based on women artists and all non-binary, fluid and non-normative sensitivities. By reading their statements, we will explore together paintings, films, sculptures, performances and photos through their point of view. The artists we will speak with come from the north and the global south, and have worked at XX Century or are still active in the contemporary. The Seminar is structured around these three main topics: Performing the body, class and gender relations; Anti-colonial struggles, historical archives, memory and hegemonic narratives & Identity, sexuality and independence in Latin America. We will count on a guest lecture by professor Dr. Astrid Mania, and artist talks by Elina Saalfeld, Marian Van Bodegraven and Dr. Flávia Vieira.
