Inhalt: We will translate various texts from German into English. The texts will be taken from newspapers, magazines, books and brochures, for example. We will focus not only on translation techniques but also particularly on collocations, connotations, register and sociolinguistic features.

Inhalt: Students will practise writing summaries of modern English texts and write essays on the topics of these texts. In addition, the stylistic devices used in these texts will be analysed in detail to increase the students’ linguistic competence and feeling for nuances of style.
