Inhalt: Starting point of the lecture is to show how investments, and more specifically bonds and stocks, are valued when their cash flows arise at different points in time. In a next step, the risk-adjusted cost of capital, which can be used to evaluate investment projects with identical risks, is determined. Thereafter, we will discuss the quality of cash flow forecasts, on which investment decisions are substantially dependent. We will think about when the financing structure has an influence on a firm‘s market value. It is developed a procedure that incorporates taxes and bankruptcy costs in the evaluation of investment programs and firms as a whole. Finally, an introduction into financial options is given.
