Inhalt: As a programme of study at Leuphana University, the Studium Individuale promotes a contemporary liberal education. While there were earlier predecessors, the ideal and practice of a liberal education in the modern sense evolved primarily since the 19th century in so called "Liberal Arts Colleges" in the USA. Only with the new Millennium, and encouraged by the Bologna process, programmes and institutions with the aspiration of a liberal education are (re)emerging within higher education in Europe. The "LET. Liberal Education Talks" will offer a venue to critically discuss this movement and the various dimensions and questions that come with it, with various speakers. In turn, the talks are open to anyone interested, from within or without academia, in the question of what a "liberal education" is, can be and should be.

Inhalt: Die Veranstaltungen der Gesprächsreihe „Studium Individuale Friday-Talks“ bieten persönliche Einblicke in Berufs- und Bildungswege im akademischen Umfeld. Es werden Gäste eingeladen, die in und zwischen Politik, Literatur, Wirtschaft, Kunst und weiteren Feldern tätig sind. Das Format ist für gewöhnlich ein etwa neunzigminütige Gespräch an einem Freitagnachmittag. Die Veranstaltung wird gemeinsam von Studierenden und Lehrenden des Studium Individuale organisiert. In den Gesprächen geht es um Verbindungen zwischen universitärem Wissen und der Welt „out there.“ Im einem bewusst informellen Format treten eingeladenen Gäste mit Studierenden des Studium Individuale in einen Austausch über ihre akademische Ausbildung, die von ihnen eingeschlagenen Wege, ihr Erleben von tatsächliches Projekten in ihren jeweiligen Bereichen und darüber, welche Verbindungen sie ziehen können zwischen den an der Universität erlernten Fähigkeiten und den Anforderungen ihrer Berufe. Die Gespräche werden von ein bis zwei Studierenden moderiert und haben einen offenen Charakter, bei dem Fragen sehr willkommen sind.
