Advanced Language Skills A (Seminar)

Inhalt: This course will focus on skills development from both the learner's and the teacher's perspective. This is a very practical course which will cover a number of interesting and debated issues related to ELT methodology and skills development for learners of English at different levels of proficiency. In addition to skills development, participants will try their hands at designing activities for learners of English.

Text and Media in Context (Seminar)

Inhalt: In seeking to bring learners of English as a foreign language in contact with authentic culture and language, a wide variety of texts and media can be used to enrich contemporary communicative language learning, including young adult literature, graphic novels, short stories, You Tube videos, news clips, podcasts, songs, movies, and more. In the seminar, a focus will be placed on students' receptive engagement with texts and media as well as on opportunities for student text production (e.g. in e-mail or blog projects). Seminar participants will have the opportunity to develop their own lesson ideas as well as to test these ideas in microteaching sessions.
