Inhalt: Modern statistics is information compression. The focus of statistics for all as the central concern of descriptive statistics is to develop approaches that allow a variety of information, which can be compressed to key indicators and metrics. Statistical information (graphs, figures, etc.) are essential building blocks in support of arguments, whether in professional, political but also private sector. Newspapers and other important social media remain incomprehensible without an understanding of numbers and graphs related to the descriptive statistics. Prior knowledge of the descriptive statistics (mean, variance, etc.) are also a necessary prerequisite for a more advanced inferential statistics (hypothesis testing, etc.) The following topics are covered in this course: Descriptive Statistics Economic and Social Statistics Ratio and indices Ratios, indices, rebasing, price adjustment of indices, purchasing power parities Full and part-surveys Selection, sample surveys, ADM - Sampling Time series and cross-sectional analysis Characteristics and components of a time series, determining the trend and cyclical components (Least squares method, method of moving averages, exponential smoothing, etc.), Determination of the seasonal component (constant and variable seasonal pattern), spectral analysis, cross-sectional analysis, panel analysis Computer programs for the statistical evaluation and analysis Statistical analyzes with spreadsheets, SPSS and other software
