Inhalt: This course makes students familiar with the challenges of multinational corporations (MNCs) in the era of globalization and digitalization. Specifically, the course focuses on three key areas to understand contemporary challenges of MNCs and how MNCs address these challenges. First, the course discusses the role of embeddedness of MNCs into culture, institutions, and networks. Second, the course elaborates on key aspects of the strategic organization of MNCs that enable them to maneuver turbulent environments. Third, the course discusses approaches that MNCs use to innovate in complex and increasingly digitalized environments.

Inhalt: This seminar will make students familiar with the particular challenges and opportunities that arise for multinational corporations in the era of globalization. The module covers a broad range of issue that emerge with doing business internationally (e.g., the global trade and investment environment, the globalized media landscape, emerging markets, failing states) and the particularly strategies of international business in dealing with these challenges (e.g. corporate political activities, new global governance, bottom of the pyramid, corporate citizenship).
