Ecosystem processes: Biogeochemical perspective (Exercises) (Übung)

Dozent/in: Werner Härdtle

Termin:
wöchentlich | Donnerstag | 14:15 - 16:45 | 01.04.2019 - 05.07.2019 | C 13.120 Labor | Zusätzlich die Räume C13.010/C13.008 (Labore)
wöchentlich | Donnerstag | 14:15 - 16:45 | 01.04.2019 - 05.07.2019 | C 13.027 Labor

Inhalt: This module aims at an advanced understanding of (terrestrial) ecosystem processes from a biogeochemical point of view. Both lectures and lab exercises will have a particular focus on biogeochemical processes in soils as well as global change impacts on biogeochemical processes in terrestrial ecosystems. Contents of the lab exercises: - Soil reaction: acidity and alcalinity - Soil organic matter - Nitrogen and phosphorus economy of soils - Macronutrient elements Ca, Mg and K - Modelling ecosystem nutrients stores (above- and belowground) - Exchange capacity of soils - Soil water: characteristics and behaviour - Soil classes and bulk density

The main topics addressed are: Lectures: - Ecosystem processes: a definition - Energy and matter flows through ecosystems - Biogeochemical cycles in ecosystems - Plant-soil interactions - Soil ecological processes in ecosystems - Below- and aboveground nutrient flows, stores and balances - Soil architecture and classification - Human impacts on biogeochemical processes - Soil protection and management
