Inhalt: This course aims at understanding the difficulties post-conflict societies face in building sustainable peace. It specially focuses on the consequences of wartime legacies and the effect conflict dynamics have on peace quality and personal security after the war ends. The course is divided into two blocks. The first block examines societal divisions that were inherited or emerged after conflict termination as well as the impact that the diverse relationships between governments, former conflict-related groups, and the civil society have on have on human rights. The second block analyses existing theories on institutional post-conflict reconstruction.
