GIS-Seminar (Workshop)

Dozent/in: Emad Elba

Inhalt: Anwendungsorientiertes Arbeiten mit geographischen Informationssystemen. In dieser Arbeitsgemeinschaft werden einige Anwendungen der GIS und Fernerkundung in der Raumanalyse und Umweltforschung vorgestellt. Die Studenten lernen wie sie die Satellitenbilder in Erstellung der Digitale Geländemodelle (DGM) verwenden. Sie werden die DGM in einigen Umweltanwendungen benutzen. Die Studierenden arbeiten einzeln oder in kleinen Gruppen. Within this workshop, some GIS and remote sensing applications in spatial analysis and environmental research will be presented. The students will learn how to use satellite images in generating digital elevation model DEM. They will use the DEM in some environmental applications. Students will work individual or in small groups.

Introduction to working with ARCGIS (Seminar/Übung)

Dozent/in: Dalia Farghaly

Inhalt: The seminar provides an overview about the geographic information systems and is aimed at students who will work with spatial data within their work or their final thesis. They will learn how to install and use ARCGIS 10 in creating, querying and analyzing the spatial data and creating a map.

Using R for Data Analysis and Statistics (Seminar/Übung)

Inhalt: This course provides an introduction to R, one of the most vibrant, comprehensive and free of charge statistical computing environments. In this course participants will learn how to use R for data analysis and statistics at the introductory level. The course will cover a selected range of basic topics (e.g., reading data into R, data manipulation, graphical visualization of data) to more advanced topics (statistical models, forecasting). Structure Section 1: Core Blocks Block 1: R, Data Management Block 2: R, Graph and Descriptive Statistics Block 3: R, Linear Regression, Logistic Regression Section 2: (Optional) R with Examples Block 4a: R, Time Series and Panel Data Block 4b: R and Panel Data Block 4c: R and Machine Learning: A very basic introduction Block 4d: Individual Projects The course will be taught on Saturday, 09th, 16th, 23nd, and 30th January 2021, from 8:30 to 13:00. Teaching formats (Online, on-site or hybrid) are subject to future corona situation and the expectation of participants.
