Inhalt: The course familiarizes students with the approach of ‘diverse economies’ (Gibson-Graham 2008) and the ‘arts of noticing’ (Tsing 2015). This means, first of all, to approach economic practices with the question of ‘what else is going on’ (Tsing, p. 61). The question directs our attention away from archetypical economic settings (i.e. market, corporation, regular employment) and towards the less familiar and unexpected scenes where much of the economy takes place, today just like in the past, in the periphery just like in the centre (i.e. platform, home, gig). Secondly, students will acquire a sensibility and a language allowing them to capture the variety of transactions, enterprises, and labour that are part of contemporary economies. Throughout the seminar, we will pay special attention to phenomena related to digital media and their restructuring of economic patterns and relations. Gibson-Graham, J.K.
