Nachhaltige Kommunalentwicklung in den Biosphärenreservaten der Metropolregion Hamburg (Projekt)

Inhalt: UPDATE 24.03.2020 VERANSTALTUNG FINDET IN VIRTUELLER FORM STATT Im transdisziplinären Forschungsprojekt “Nachhaltige Kommunalentwicklung in den Biosphärenreservaten der Metropolregion Hamburg” geht es um die Entwicklung konkreter Maßnahmen, um kommunale sowie interkommunale Nachhaltigkeitsprozesse und -initiativen zu befördern. Die beteiligten Landkreise, Biosphärenreservat und Kommunen, rund um den Schaalsee und der Elbtalaue, möchten gemeinsam an der Vision einer nachhaltigen Biosphären-Region arbeiten und sich dieser über konkrete Massnahmen näher. Das Forschungsprojekt wird ein wichtiger Baustein im Rahmen des vermutlich bald startenden Leitprojekts “Nachhaltige Regionalentwicklung in der Biosphärenregion Elbe-Schaalsee” mit Projektpartnern aus der Biosphärenreservatsverwaltung, Landkreisen sowie Kommunen aus der Region, diversen Interessenverbänden und der Leuphana sein. Die Studierenden werden auf den Ergebnissen des vorhergehenden Transdisziplinären Projekts im Wintersemester 20/21 und Sommersemester 21 aufbauen. Es ist geplant, dass auch im SoSe/WiSe 22/23 sowie im SoSe/WiSe 23/24 weitere Transdisziplinäre Projekte im Rahmen des Leitprojektes durchgeführt werden.

Projekt: Nachhaltiges Abfallmanagement - Planung und Durchführung (Projekt)

Inhalt: Die Veranstaltung besteht aus einer ausführlichen Einführung in die Abfallwirtschaft (naturwissenschaftliche Grundlagen, Logistik, Abfallverwertung, Abfallbeseitigung, Ressourcenmanagement im SS 2021, rechtlicher und ökonomischer Rahmen im WS 2021/2022) und der Planung und Durchführung von zwei bis drei transdisziplinären Projekten. Im Rahmen der Einführung lernen Sie Abfallwirtschaft im Zusammenhang von Ressourcenmanagement, Rechtsrahmen und Marktwirtschaft kennen – es geht also um ein ganzheitliches Bild unseres Umgangs mit stofflichen Ressourcen. Aspekte nachhaltiger Abfallwirtschaft lassen sich mit dem erworbenen Wissen und Denkweisen erkennen und erforschen.

Sustainability and Learning University Barometer (Projekt)

Inhalt: The transdisciplinary research project "Sustainability and Learning University Barometer" focuses on the role of universities as social actors for steering a sustainable transformation and the implementation of the SDGs. Universities around the world are becoming increasingly aware of their social responsibility and are initiating different activities to take sustainability into account in research, teaching, and transfer activities. The project investigates how universities as societal actors institutionalize sustainability in their activities. The focus is not on ranking the different universities, but rather on analyzing the contribution of the overall sector to achieving the SDGs as well as enabling learning processes between the different universities. In order to reflect the development of the universities with regard to the implementation of sustainability and to initiate a mutual learning process, this project will explore which indicators are suitable for comparative analysis (monitoring). Thereby, we will explore different possibilities. For instance, which indicators are suitable for global comparison, or which indicators are needed to depict more profound processes of individual universities (local level). This seminar will approach such a set of indicators in a transdisciplinary methodological approach together with practitioners. The first semester will focus on the introduction of transdisciplinary research, the role of higher education in sustainable transformation, and the development of a research plan. In order to develop a profound problem awareness, and make a systematic and comparative analysis of the identified activities possible, first steps can include exploring which instruments (assessment tools, sustainability reporting, etc.) have been used so far. These tools can be critically examined with regard to their indicator set and their advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, "champion" universities, which have already anchored sustainability particularly deeply and broadly, can be analyzed in more detail. However, as the focus is on the independent development of the research plan by the students and it is meant to be developed in a transdisciplinary way, the concrete research questions will be developed over the course of this seminar. In the second semester, the focus will be on the implementation of the research plan (independent application of transdisciplinary methods, deeper cooperation with practitioners/stakeholders, e.g., "champion" universities, associations of universities, etc.) and the dissemination of the research results. The goal of the entire project is to produce connectable results that can be used for shared learning processes between universities. Ideally these can be used for a panel study.
