Language, Communication, and Discourse (Seminar)

Inhalt: In the course “Language, Communication, and Discourse” we look at how communicative practice can be studied and unpacked. Different approaches to Discourse Analysis are discussed, with a particular focus placed on the connection of Discourse and Society. By concentrating on language use and function, we set out to better understand social issues and phenomena such as identity, gender, power, leadership, culture, and humour. As part of the course we furthermore look into qualitative research methods for approaching the study of communication.
