Inhalt: In the 1960s theoretical, philosophical and political discourse in the academic leftist circles of Italy and France changes. In Italy a rereading of the machine fragment brings to light a new theory of labor, class and political action. In France a reinterpretation of ideology and a rereading of Capital changes the academic tone. Louis Althußer and Etiénne Balibar publish Lire le Capital in 1965, Pierre Macherey publishes A theory of literary production in 1966, Althußer Lenin and Philosophy in 1968. From this line of thought emerges a new marxist, a materialistic aesthetic theory. Key figures are Althußer, Balibar, Macherey and others. Their influence surpasses the obvious connections to Italian theory – Althußer invites Antonio Negri in 1978 to give a seminar on Marx' Grundrisse, which is later published as Marx beyond Marx – and influences important thinkers such as Frederic Jameson and Audrey Wasser. The key connection made in this school of an aesthetic critique of ideology is the one constructed between an aesthetic production, the production of subjectivity and the possibilities for subversion. In this seminar we will try to follow the line of thought sketched out above. We start with a co-production of Balibar, Balibar and Macherey. In which they try to free materialist aesthetics from the chains of leninist and maoist ideology – we start between Lenin and Mao.

Louis Althusser: Das Kapital lesen (Seminar)

Dozent/in: Till Hahn

Termin:
wöchentlich | Montag | 16:15 - 17:45 | 18.10.2021 - 31.01.2022 | C 40.152 Seminarraum

Inhalt: Das Seminar behandelt Louis Althussers strukturalistische Marx-Lektüre.
