Inhalt: Management and organization studies has recently discovered utopias as an important part of attempts to organize for innovation. The production and consumption of utopias take place as a broadly shared ‘practice’ of reflecting on the future—a prevalent temporal category that actors in modern organizations refer to when staking out decisions and actions. At the same time, actors in organizations envision and mobilize utopias as part of their day-to-day organizational lives to make sense of and give sense to immediate situations at hand. But how do organizational actors produce and consume utopias, and how do utopias contribute to attempts to organize for innovation? In this seminar, we experience and discuss utopias as part of attempts to organize for innovation through a close reading of scientific journal articles as well as through the in-actu production and enactment of desirable futures in and for “Utopia”, a social impact lab that is being formed at the heart of Lüneburg.
