The Global Right and "Gender Ideology" (Seminar)

Inhalt: In recent decades, the global right has increasingly sought to mobilise against an often ill-defined ‘gender ideology’. This seminar explores examples from Europe, the United States and Latin America, examining the coalitions that have often been formed among the far-right and the centre-right as well as with some on the left and centre-left. At times, such coalitions have sought to defend traditional ideas of the family as well as sex/gender roles and identities. And at others, they have focussed on opposing particular parts of queer culture (such as drag) as well as trans rights, recognition and liberation.
