Agrarwirtschaft als Land- und Bodennutzungssystem (Seminar)

Inhalt: Agrarwirtschaft als regional und global raumrelevantes System und aktuelle Entwicklungen agrarwirtschaftlicher Bodennutzung in Europa und weltweit werden unter Aspekten des Ressourcenschutzes sowie der Verteilung und der Nutzungsmöglichkeiten von Böden analysiert und bewertet. Betrachtungs- und Diskussionsperspektiven sind naturwissenschaftliche, ökonomische und gesellschaftspolitische Gesichtspunkte. Ein weiterer Fokus liegt auf der Erfassung und Einordnung sich verändernder Anforderungen an agrarwirtschaftliche Akteure.

Balancing ecological and social elements in the spatial design of environmental policy (Seminar)

Inhalt: Providing solutions to environmental and social issues is a common target of environmental policy. However, environmental and social issues are often assessed separately, generating unbalanced policy outcomes. An example, is a policy that considers only environmental efficiency but it is not socially just, or a policy that focuses only on social aspects but neglects environmental efficiency aspects. In order to avoid these types of unbalanced situations and to contribute to solving many of the “wicked” problems that environmental policy faces, like climate and land use change or the distribution of natural capital, we need to include a variety of environmental and social elements that will increase the positive effects and acceptance of policies. n this seminar, students will learn spatial aspects of assessing terrestrial ecosystems using southern Chile as a case study, focusing on interactions between societal and environmental systems. In the first part of the course, students will be introduced to core applied spatial analysis concepts, databases and ways to model and map environmental and social elements within socio-ecological systems with focus on the study area. For instance, students will learn how to map and model ecosystem services and how to combine that with social spatial variables. This will provide a focus and understanding relevant interactions in the design of environmental policy. In the second part of the course, students will develop an own project in a selected subset of the study area and develop a spatial project on a selected environmental policy topic that can be regarded as “balanced”.

Grundlagen und Instrumente des Naturschutzes (Seminar)

Inhalt: Inhalte der Vorlesung: Grundlagen und moderne Ansätze des Naturschutzes auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene (Biologische Vielfalt, Ressourcenschutz, Landschaftsschutz und Erholungsvorsorge, Biotopverbund und Natura 2000, Habitatmanagement, Artenschutz, Landschafts- und Naturschutzplanung) Inhalte des Übungsteils: An einem konkreten Beispiel wird die methodische Herangehensweise an die Erstellung eines Pflege- und Entwicklungsplanes erarbeitet. Dieses umfasst die Arbeitsschritte Problembestimmung, Bestandsaufnahme, Bestandsanalyse, Zielfindung, Soll-Ist-Vergleich, Ursachenanalyse, Maßnahmenplanung und Umsetzungshinweise.

Raumansprüche der Energiewende (Seminar)

Inhalt: Das Seminar gibt Einblicke in die Herausforderungen und Lösungsansätze einer auf Konsistenz (Erneuerbare), Effizienz und Suffizienz basierenden Energieversorgung, mit dem Schwerpunkt auf die Ansprüche an den Raum (einschließlich des Untergrunds und von Nord- und Ostsee). Hintergrund ist, dass die künftige dezentrale Energieerzeugung in großem Ausmaß Flächen benötigt, für die es diverse konfligierende Nutzungsansprüche gibt. Welche Anforderungen ergeben sich für das Planungssytem, das Recht der Raumplanung, wie können Betroffene in Entscheidungen eingebunden und die Akzeptanz gefördert werden, welche Antworten geben Politik, Recht, Ökonomie, Natur- und Raumwissenschaft? Mit dem Seminar sollen Exkursionen verbunden werden, zB zum genehmigten Endlager für schwach- und mittelradioaktive Abfälle im Schacht Konrad, zum illegalen Endlager Asse, zu einem Windpark, etc.
