Undoing Borders - Rethinking Migration and Citizenship (Seminar)

Inhalt: Migration and citizenship have been among the most contested political issues in Europe and other OECD countries for years. In most cases, migrants are scapegoated and migration is framed as a problem to be governed. At the same time, this demand is constantly failing. How can we go beyond this limiting framework of public discourse? In this seminar, we will explore alternative theoretical conceptions and empirical approaches to migration, borders and citizenship while focusing on anti-racist, feminist and anti-capitalist approaches. How do they perceive citizens and migrants? On which visions of society are these approaches based? How should (academic) critique look according to them?
