LOST Workshop at the University of Twente

23.09.2026 This semester's LOST workshop "On Affect and Being Affected" takes place from September 23-25, 2026, at the University of Twente and is co-organized by our colleagues Ellen Nathues, Annemarie Dedden, and Britt Wiefferink at the University of Twente, and Boukje Cnossen, Lena Kostuj, and Iris Seidemann at Leuphana. Across three workshop days, we will tackle questions of affect in organizational research and beyond.

Three days on affect and being affected.

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting our #LOST Workshop “On Affect and Being Affected” from September 23 to 25 at the University of Twente in Enschede. A big thank you to everyone who joined us for three days of reading, writing, walking, crafting, moving, and thinking together!

Special thanks to our local co-hosts, Annemarie Dedden, Ellen Nathues & Britt Wiefferink, and this semester’s LOST program coordinators, Boukje Cnossen & Iris Seidemann, for organizing.

We started with a joint writing day – including some very welcome active breaks and salsa lessons – before approaching affect from different angles over the following days. We asked what, when, and why affect matters for organization studies, drawing particularly on feminist and new materialist perspectives. From there, we explored how affect has been taken up in organization studies: as a specific theoretical and methodological lens, but also as a potentially powerful mode of critique. Two work-in-progress sessions gave participants space to share their own research, think together, and receive feedback from each other.

Alongside learning about the connection between bats and sustainability during our exploratory Campus walk, another highlight was our workshop dinner at Het Paradijs – a place where we found ourselves quite literally affected by our surroundings, the food, and the conversations around the table.

We closed by looking ahead: to the growing collaboration between Twente and Leuphana, and to future plans for LOST. We’re excited about what comes next!

Thank you to all participants for bringing your curiosity, openness, and care – and to everyone who made these three days such a special experience.
