Social work degree for educators offers new career options

2024-05-06 Lüneburg. Educators can qualify for the professional fields of social work and social pedagogy with a part-time degree course. The Professional School at Leuphana University Lüneburg offers this opportunity with its Bachelor's degree course in Social Work. In October 2024, a new round of the highly sought-after study program will begin. Applications can be submitted until July 15. For early planning security, it is also possible to apply for early bird admission by May 15. Various advisory services are available for those interested.

The part-time Bachelor of Social Work introduces educators to the diverse professional fields of social work and social pedagogy in seven semesters, opening up new career prospects for them. It also enables them to obtain state recognition as a social worker/social pedagogue. In the Bachelor's degree program, students deal with legal, pedagogical, socio-medical, psychological and economic aspects of social work.

The course is aimed at state-recognized educators with at least three years of professional experience. Two semesters of educator training are credited towards the course. Further professional experience or completed further training can also be recognized under certain conditions. By providing proof of training and professional experience, it is also possible to study without an Abitur.
