Leuphana School of Management and Technology receives international accreditation

2025-02-14 Lüneburg. The Leuphana School of Management and Technology has received accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). This certification is an international seal of quality that is important for attracting international cooperation partners. The organization applies strict criteria to the systematics, significance, procedural standards, and social impact of research and teaching. Since the submission of the first report in September 2020, the AACSB has been reviewing in an application and testing phase whether the requirements are met and aligned for further development in the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs offered by the school.

With the seal of quality, Leuphana joins the small group of accredited university business schools in Germany. Among public universities, these are RWTH Aachen, Frankfurt (Goethe), Mannheim, Münster and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). In Lower Saxony and northern Germany, Lüneburg is the first public university ever to receive this distinction.

The leading business schools are AACSB-accredited. But only six percent of all business schools worldwide belong to the AACSB-certified institutions and meet the standards in teaching, research and administration. The AACSB is a network that has existed for over 100 years and is based in Tampa, Florida. This certification is one of the international awards for institutions of academic business education.

“This is a great achievement by all colleagues involved in science and administration. The accreditation will make us even more attractive to prospective international students, partner universities and companies, because it will be easier to see what our strengths are and how systematically we conduct research and teaching,” says Leuphana President Sascha Spoun, pleased.

The school's dean, Professor Paul Drews, adds: “With this accreditation, we have received an independent external confirmation of the high quality of the teaching and management at our School of Management and Technology. This opens further doors for us in terms of international cooperation.”

The Leuphana School of Management and Technology, as the faculty is known internationally, provides the framework for interdisciplinary research and teaching. Work is carried out across disciplines on topics such as digital transformation, entrepreneurship, organizational research, responsible management, product development processes, and psychology in the world of work. Dean Drews comments: “In this way, we are contributing to a better understanding and design of social transformation processes.”

The positive AACSB vote is in line with the good placings already achieved in rankings such as the Times Higher Education Ranking, the Shanghai Ranking and the WirtschaftsWoche ranking. President Spoun explains: “We are innovative and recognized in the field of management in Lower Saxony and among the top German universities.”
