AI Campus Day: From Idea to AI Prototype in 25 Minutes
2026-11-03 The first AI Campus Day, jointly organised by Leuphana University Lüneburg, the Leuphana Start-up Club Ignite, the Leuphana StartUp Lab and Hamburg University of Technology, was met with strong interest. Students from both universities came together on the Leuphana campus to explore artificial intelligence as a practical tool for entrepreneurship and to connect across institutions. For many TUHH students, the day also offered an opportunity to experience the Leuphana campus as a space for innovation, exchange and collaborative experimentation.
The event began with a visit to the Creative Space for Human and Artificial Intelligence, introducing participants to creative technologies, robotics and generative tools. One message quickly became clear: AI is not only a technical issue, but also a question of design, responsibility and society.
The subsequent workshop provided by the experts from Leuphana’s StartUp Lab explored how AI is changing entrepreneurial processes. A key insight emerged: AI makes it significantly easier and faster to develop digital products. At the same time, this creates greater competition for the attention of potential customers. Understanding target groups, identifying a compelling problem-solution fit and developing a viable business model are therefore becoming even more important. Inputs on Lean Startup, Vertical Innovation and AI-supported product development provided the framework for the session.
The participants then put these ideas into practice. Working in eight interdisciplinary teams, they used Vibe Coding and the Lovable platform to develop initial clickable web prototypes within around 25 minutes. The resulting concepts included a digital time bank, motivational alarm formats, a tool for curated social-media content, an application for improving posture, ideas addressing loneliness and winter depression, as well as digital assistants for photo sorting and grocery shopping.
The AI Campus Day marked a visible milestone in the cooperation between Leuphana and TU Hamburg in the field of teaching and learning. Next steps include a joint course on Consumer Behaviour and co-creation formats for the new joint degree programme.
