wöchentlich | Mittwoch | 10:15 - 11:45 | 02.04.2024 - 05.07.2024 | C 14.204 Seminarraum

Inhalt: This course is about implementing psychological theories into mathematical models, which in turn can be used to generate predictions that can be testet on empirical data. To that end, we first discuss the notion of a model in terms of simple statistical models that we usually use for data analysis, but that can also be used to generate data. Then, we will learn about more advanced models, for example, from motor control, or eye movements during reading. In class work, we will also begin to formulate and program such models ourself, where students will be working together in small groups. Finally, we will learn and discuss how to compare and evaluate such models. For students who want to take this course, but have no prior experience with basic statistics, self-learn materials will be provided to reach a working level of statistics that is necessary to understand cognitive models. For student who want to take this course, but have not prior experience in programming, self-learn materials will be provided to reach a sufficient skill level in programming in order to implement some of these models during the course.
