Gender and political behavior (Seminar)

Inhalt: Why are men more likely to vote for radical right parties than women? Do women know less about politics than men? The political behavior literature has long shown that men and women participate differently in politics. For instance, such differences emerge in their voting behavior, ideology, political ambition and political knowledge. This course will first discuss the prevalence of such gender gaps over time and space. Second, explanations of such gender gaps offered by the literature will be discussed. In the third part of the course, students will be introduced to descriptive quantitative analysis of survey data and the visualization of gender gaps using graphs.
