Inhalt: This module introduces students to the theories and practice of studying English literature. We will be looking at a variety of theoretical concepts and contemporary approaches and applying these to literary texts from different historical periods and genres. At the same time we will consider the social and cultural contexts of literature as well as its aesthetic, rhetorical, and ideological aspects. In the module you will acquire the competences required to study literature effectively: how to use the library and the internet, how to assess reference material and online resources, and how to present your findings.
