Transnational Business Transactions IV - Moot Court (Projekt)

Dozent/in: Lesley Jane Smith

Termin:
wöchentlich | Dienstag | 12:15 - 14:45 | 14.10.2013 - 31.01.2014 | W 217

Inhalt: Moot court: Description and Organisation A moot court is a mock trial that exposes students to an area of law which they are required to learn and use as a basis for training their skills of argument. In moots, students learn to argue on behalf of one or other of the parties to the dispute. It is an exciting exercise that involves much thought and team collaboration. It is a great way to develop English language skills. This semester, students are being introduced to a new and rapidly developing field of law which allows them to practice their skills of learning and legal rhetoric. At the beginning of class, students are required to read and discuss the legal problem that is set for them to debate. The actual arguments for and against the parties are thereafter developed and worked out between those participating. Initially, teams are built and a work schedule developed. This particular moot – the Manfred Lachs Moot – is a real moot that can lead to selection of the students to the European regional rounds of what is a truly international competition. Students are faced with the disciplines of public international law, the law of outer space and modern law of technology. The decision as to whether a team is to be registered for the actual competition will be made by myself as responsible course professor immediately prior to Christmas. A schedule of work and study is attached.
