Dozent/in: Götz Bachmann

Termin:
wöchentlich | Mittwoch | 10:15 - 11:45 | 16.10.2013 - 29.01.2014 | extern | Raum 233; Hamburg Media School

Inhalt: This course gives first answers to four fundamental questions: (1) What are digital media and why is it important that we study them? (2) How and where can we study them? (3) How can we use such knowledge to shape digital media, and how we live with them? (4) What is the impact of digital media on science, and how do we take this impact into account? This seminar gives you an introduction to various approaches of what Digital Media Studies can and should do. Several guest speakers – international and German - will introduce their questions, ideas, and approaches. You will learn how to compare different takes and start to develop your own stance. You will understand how, on the one hand, we can analyse digital media (as a topic) from a wide variety of angles. You will, on the other hand, learn how digital media have inspired approaches, which can be used to understand a much wider variety of topics, themes, and questions. Digital Media Studies are in constant transformation: As they gain new questions, topics, approaches and fields of intervention, your contributions become an essential part of their next iterations.
