Inhalt: The seminar will explore how some arts-based and 'cultural-creative' initiatives and projects are elaborating ways to build "cultures of sustainability" in the context of contemporary urban development. In a first phase, the seminar will introduce some theoretical perspectives and examples from around the world. In a second phase, the focus will be placed on examples from the city of Hannover (with the possibility for the participants in the seminar to be involved in empirical work in the city of Hannover - related to the ongoing research project "Stadt als Möglichkeitsraum" conducted by a group of researchers at the Leuphana University). The seminar will also include a discussion of the interface of policies (cultural policies, urban policies) with the 'bottom-up' practices under our focus.
