Inhalt: Especially after the "PISA-shock" educational and school reform agendas have emphasized the centrality of an output-orientation in teaching. In 2003 and 2004 the German KMK published the "Bildungsstandards" wich had to be implemented in new curricula. In Lower-Saxony foreign language teaching is now based on the "Kerncurricula". In this seminar we will look at the implications of a competency-based and standards-oriented approach in foreign language teaching: - theortical basis: concept of output-orientation; stucture and content of "Bildungsstandards" and "Kerncurricula" - implementation in school curricula - consequences for the language classroom - lesson / sequence planning - competency-based assessment and self-assessment
