Inhalt: The digitisation has effectively impacted nearly every part of western society’s every day experience - including that of cultural institutions such as museums. While the digital age opens up new opportunities for museums to promote and inform about artists and their work, at the same time, it challenges traditional formats, processes and procedures. Institutions thus have to adapt the way they work and communicate - internally and with their audience. One strategy, is to make information more accessible employing the use of storytelling. The aim of this course is to understand the importance of storytelling as a communications tool. Museums will be introduced as a case study to explore the role storytelling plays in today’s cultural institutions. During the seminar, students will create their own storytelling project. Building on his experience as a film producer and as a consultant for museums around the world, Mr. Schulze will encourage the students to collaborate with fellow students and to use open access artwork available from different museums, to enable students to independently build a narrative that conveys information for users and visitors about different artists and their work.
