Law, Legality and Business (Vorlesung)

Inhalt: The course starts with the general structures of German law, in particular its legal tradition, the areas of law and the sources of law. After an overview about the differences between private, public and criminal law the course focuses on German private law, first in the Civil Code (BGB), its structure and principles like private autonomy and freedom of contract, the principle of abstraction and the declaration of will. It will then go on to the law of obligation, especially the contract of sale, and the law of torts. After these basics, the topics of the course are corporate and commercial law and the European capital markets law (market abuse regulation and the regulation of the markets in financial instruments).
