Einzeltermin | So, 17.09.2023, 09:00 - So, 17.09.2023, 17:00 | C 40.162 Seminarraum

Inhalt: “You should not use for-loops in R, though.” R users with programming experience often hear or read this advice. Oftentimes, analyses require the data to be in a specific format which can be reached with (for) loops. However, better and more efficient alternatives exist in R, making data tidying and analysis faster, sometimes easier to read, and way more fun. In this seminar, we’ll have a look at these alternatives, specifically, lists (base R approach) and vectorized functions/grouped data (tidyverse approach).

Inhalt: **Attention: this is a course open to doctoral candidates as well as Master's students in complementary studies. This results in the fixed time slots in the morning.** This course works towards the temporary exhibition “the beauty of transformation”, as a particular way of science communication, to be opened June 21st at the transformation::spaces for future-oriented learning at Leuphana University. The course has the development of an entrepreneurial mindset in focus (not the development of business plans!) and sheds light on potentially less heard of methods (such as applied by, e.g., Theo Aalders and Kate Monson). Community action serves as a source of empowerment and gives the opportunity to practice impactful stakeholder engagement. Inspired by Theory U, methods for introspection are introduced and students´ self-exploration is the baseline for further action. Inner development goals are the point of departure for collaborative community action. Students will make the experience of an Inside Out Group Action (The Economy – it is us!), reflect about their stakeholder engagement experience and derive lessons and ideas for own projects with transformative potential. Audio-visual or similar project outputs are presented in the last seminar session and receive a stage at the exhibition “the beauty of transformation”. The transformation::spaces for future-oriented learning are there to be used for the exploration of one´s entrepreneurial actions throughout the semester. Students will learn how to relate to oneself (intrapersonal competency) as a foundation for collaboration with peers, learning facilitator(s), and stakeholders (interpersonal competency), via methods such as Photovoice and the evolving hosting transformation toolbox. “Walk and talk” is taken literally, hence, part of the course will take place outdoors.
