Inhalt: This course is for all students interested in Generative AI. We will begin by bringing everyone to a baseline understanding of GenAI including the risks and benefits it poses to organizations. In the 20th-century state-funded institutions had a central role in conferring the status of “art”. Museums, theaters, art biennials and funding bodies have all had to formulate a coherent response to the arrival of Generative AI and in doing so pose renewed questions to the institutional theory of art and the “artworld” (Danto, 1964). How can institutions this emerging space? What is the role of institutional critique? Intellectual property? Which initiatives have succeeded and which have failed? We will take a case study approach, looking at a wide range of cultural institutions. Finally, we will ask the generative turn might mean for the university itself. What does deep learning ask of educators and students? What are the questions that are hiding in plain sight?
