Inhalt: In this seminar accompanying the lecture Educational Psychology, we will discuss the topics of the lecture sessions in greater depth. Students will have the opportunity to ask further questions about the topics of the lecture. We will also work on additional material such as videos of scientific presentations and current discussions in the field of educational psychology.

Inhalt: The aim of educational psychology is to understand and promote learning and development in educational settings. Educational psychology applies principles and research findings to improve teaching, learning and educational outcomes. In this lecture, students will learn about the approaches, methods and findings of educational-psychological research. They will also learn about current social issues of educational psychological relevance (e.g. violence in the media, the PISA studies, group differences in educational outcomes, prejudices and stereotypes). In addition, students will learn how knowledge can be acquired and put into practice (expertise, knowledge transfer, problem solving). Finally, students will hear about the role of interest and motivation in promoting learning and development.
