The music of survivors of the Nazi regime and audibility – a transnational case study (Seminar)

Inhalt: In this course, you will learn something about the presence/audability of the music of survivors of the Nazi regime in commemoration events and practices since World War II. We will look at selected biographies and musical pieces. A certain goal is to close one particular gap together. This gap is about the survivor artist Janusz Kahl whose music has been performed both in Poland and Germany. The case study on his art enables us to reflect on the significance of transnational but also local memory cultures with music.
